just a little bit about myself i found out about BT5 after becoming interested in internet security , i wan to find way to keep myself and my machine safe from harm. I am not a professional but i would like to learn as much as i can and maybe even contribute something worthwhile one day.

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
I personally use VMware Workstation and Fusion and don't have any complaints, of course these are not free. If you choose to go with VirtualBox you might want to keep in mind that previous version did not virtualize DEP correctly (not sure if it does now I didn't test it).

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
I use VMware Workstation, buy a copy, you will have fun learning with it. And if you buy it, maybe you will be more motivated to stick with the learning process.

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
hi :)
the best thing in my humble point of view:
try!! && find the best solution for your "needs" && for your "hardware-power"
There is also the VMvare-player (free) as well as virtualbox (free)
good choice ...

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
Well, I come and I grew in a debianist enviroment, so I guess the linux people will know my answer..But is about you, so if newbie, I strongly suggest VMWare, specially if you come and grew within Windows eviroment, so go with it..Virtualbox has sometimes to be "tuned"..
But as the other members wrote, they are very comfortable with VMWare..I would do as much as I can to avoid something that is not with GNU filosophy, but sometimes is necessary or if the occasion warrants it.
Luck. (Windows user by need, Debianist by conviction)

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
I am final, I am sorry, but it at all does not approach me. Perhaps there are still variants?

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
I'm a VMWare Workstation fan myself...an older version but it works nicely for my needs. But as others have said, try both and see which one you prefer.

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
I like the Virtualbox, because VMware occurred in the past. I have used the BT in my desktop, not virtual. VMWare in BT is installed(not BT in VMWare).
but VMWare is freezed during working. after exchanging Virtualbox, the problem is decscribed. of course it is not perfect but good.

Re: VirtualBox vs VMware
I use VirtualBox exclusively and have never had issues. Extremely easy to use for a novice. Plus it's free so you might as well try it out.
