Alfa awus036h Radiation??
Sorry if iv posted this in the wrong section as im new here, im using the adapter a few feet away from my head im just concerned about radiating my eyeballs out. How can i tell if its safe to use it i currently have it sat on a tv areal and im connecting to my friends network, would it be better to try and put it in my loft or something, if so what do i need to buy to get it up there.
Re: Alfa awus036h Radiation??
I don't think there's any physical risk to you.
Your Alfa won't have the power in it to fully utilise that antenna, so matter how big a stick you put on it I don't think it will harm you. I could be wrong - I don't know a great deal about the science behind wireless technologies - but it would have to have a significant higher current going through it to start radiating like you say.
I wouldn't worry.
Re: Alfa awus036h Radiation??
I've been using a alfa for 4 years now and I'm still fine. Sometimes I even let it working overnight with a 16dbi directional antenna in the same room I sleep, haven't had any issue. If it wasn't safe, it wouldn't be on the market.
Re: Alfa awus036h Radiation??
As far as I understand things; a WiFi card like this operates at around 2W at max, which is 33dBm. This is also the max output from a UMTS/3G or GSM850/900 mobile phone. There are enough of those floating about, so if those aren't giving us all brain cancer I wouldn't be concerned about a single WiFi card :)
Re: Alfa awus036h Radiation??
Alright cheers guys i was just worried that's all. Would it wise for me to get a directional antenna for connecting to the network as its quite a bit away, will it provide me with a better signal than the standard antenna and be more reliable.
