need to know what correct section is that a certain subject goes in ?
I "was" a first time poster and made a post and the post was deleted and I got a warning for posting in the wrong section.
No, I would like to apologise to every person that that single post being in the wrong post offended, I wonder how many people
It really bothered apart from the webmaster, but anyway, thats thier choice, I think to delete the post and give me "a first time
poster" a warning was very over the top, but as I say, thats that member of staffs choice, I guess I dont have any say in the matter
at all, I thought a private message telling me it was in the wrong section and moving the post to the correct section would have been
a much better idea though.
Anyway, now it makes me scared to post on the backtrack forum at all after that.
Perhaps someone could tell me what section the post should have went in and I will rewrite it in that section please, the webmaster
didnt tell me where it should have went.
All the post was to do with was the Vírgin superhub stopping testing pins and repeating the same one over and over at 90.90% done,
its been driving me crazy for a couple of weeks now.
(thats all the question was or words very similar to that).
hope someone can help and I dont get this deleted and yet another warning, lol.
Thanks.
Re: need to know what correct section is that a certain subject goes in ?
Posting threads in the wrong section makes the forum "messy".
If every thread was in one place, no-one wouldn't be able to find anything!
As we try and get users to search before posting (See the forum rules: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40156 ~ Remember that you agreed to this when you signed up.), it would be impossible to locate anything useful. Hence why there are different categories for different areas...
BackTrack 5 Beginners: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40168
BackTrack 5 General Topics: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40175
BackTrack 5 Experts Section: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40174
BackTrack 5 How-To's: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40166
BackTrack 5 Videos: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40169
BackTrack 5 Bugs: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40170
BackTrack 5 Fixes: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=40171
Working Hardware: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=45664
Non Working Hardware: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=45665
BackTrack 5 ARM topics: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=41026
Also for the same reason, its why we try and enforce a "Good" title (E.g. HowTo Make a valid Thread: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=42094). Something else which is in "the forum rules".
To quote Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".
If we get (new) members to post in the correct section to start with, we will not always have to be moving threads about as it would also be expected of us to be cleaning up for you. All the staff members volunteer our free time to moderate the forum. This takes up a fair amount of time.
No, it's not the staff choose, it's the forum rules. The staff just enforces it. If you didn't agree with the rules when you signed up, you shouldn't have continued. On that note, it is mentioned throughout the forum, if you post in the incorrect section - your thread will be removed (and without warning).
Please feel free to re-post your original question again in the correct sub-section (read the links above to figure out where it needs to ask).

Well what would you like us to do?
If we allowed anyone to post anywhere - the forum gets messy
If we moved everyone's posts - no one would learn where to post.
This leaves removing posts. Upon doing so, you should get a PM regarding the instance with why it wasn't allowed and a copy of the original post. Depending on your personal settings, you may get a copy of it via email.

But that doesnt help much as I think I tried posting it first time in the beginners section, then I have tried posting it in the general topics section, so I am totally lost
as to where to post the question ?
Yes, posting that sort of question in the "beginners area" isn't allowed (hence why it was reported & removed).
Looking though the forum, there isn't anything else posted by you in the "general area". (Either visible or waiting to be approved)
As was mentioned before, read the pinned threads to understand what can be posted, where. You need to learn this yourself (again, going back to teaching a man to fish!)
We try and not "hand hold" (with giving users step by step for everything), rather teach them how to learn for themselves - because long term, this will benefit you a great deal more.

From our form rules:

This means a staff member needs to manually go through all the new posts and either allow it or report why it wasn't allowed. This takes time.
This is in place to make sure new users understand & follow the rules that they agreed to (Plus it stops spam bots!). As soon as you have "enough" quality posts, this restriction is removed.
Re: need to know what correct section is that a certain subject goes in ?
would it be the fixes section then that I post that type of question in mate ? :)
Re: need to know what correct section is that a certain subject goes in ?
Could you explain your logic behind that?

Hi g0tmi1k. (Great work on your videos by the wa.) I have to apologize for cutting in, but this has made me curious. Is thesniffer asking about using reaver against a netgear superhub?

I thought thier may be a fix ( a way round) what I was asking in my question so that I can solve my question, thats my logic. Now whats your logic in even asking what you asked "Could you explain your logic behind that? "
You know what mate, forget it, if its going to be this type of forum everytime I ask a question then its not for me, forget it mate, I may or may not come back as I still need help with my issue, but as for now, just forget it eh, ive had a really really bad night and the last thing I need right now is this.
Thanks very much for your help !

My Logic: I wanted to see if you had listen to anything which I had put. (Turns out, you hadn't.)
So you thought it would of gone into 'fixes', so checking BackTrack 5 Fixes (which I gave in my first reply).
The first line says:

This ISN'T a FIX at all! This is REQUEST for help. So posting here would be wrong.
This isn't the type of forum, if you 1.) Don't read & follow the rules and 2.) Don't listen to the help which other people have given you.
