Install problems UEFI BACKTRACK 5
Hello guys
I purchased a brand new Lap Top Asus zenbook Prime, and I tried to install Backtrack 5 r3 on in it but i couldn't,
My problem was I Boot thru a flash drive because the lap doesn't have a dvd-rom, so on the boot screen option i had 2 option for flash drive
First was UEFI mode flash drive
Second was regular travel mode flash drive
I tried to UEFI, but i couldn't load the backtrack
Then I tried the second option wich loaded but erased my original windows, i don't worry about windows, and didn't install it.
Then I download UBUNTU 12.04 i had the same flash drive option UEFI and regular i tried UEFI and was fine loaded and installed fine, but i wanna backtrack
So if any body went thru the same issue please help me
Re: Install problems UEFI BACKTRACK 5
You might want to see you BIOS and acheck if there is an option about using UEFI or Legacy Bios. Choose Legacy and install BT5..Otherwise, you might want to erase all partitions using Gparted.
Delete all partitions and Create a new partition with filesystem ms-dos. Then apply changes..Now the new partition is a MBR partition, not UEFI..Then start installing all OS you want...
You can do that under your own risk..This method has been tested in some spanish forums with ubuntu distro live CD and gparted..
Again, you can loose all data (well, if no personal data still saved it would not matter)...Also reporting when installing again Windows 7, they had the GPT partitioon table back and the rest of distros installed became a headache...They recommend installing Win7 from a USB...
One of the posts come from Lenovo Community (Spanish) posted 06-18-2012.. ----> http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Accesori...se/ta-p/774003
If you require me to translate it, it will be my pleasure...I'm still reading about UEFI to be able to help as much as I can..This UEFI issue is new to me, but I'm reading about it
Any comment or input will be highly appreciated..You can try it and post results..
Luck.
Re: Install problems UEFI BACKTRACK 5
I saw, the mode choosen was Legacy

Re: Install problems UEFI BACKTRACK 5
Okz
Thanks for everybody that look to this post.
After alot of search without good things, I solved it
The kernel of backtrack 5 r3 it's no compatible with Asus zenbook prime, so I downloaded the r2 witch the kernel is 3.2.6 and made a usb bootable and choose a non UEFI option
So after that with the backtrack installed i just upgrade for r3.
Now have another issue wireless network doesn't work.
When I open Wicd it says no wireless network found.
