Virtual Box and host-wireless (Extension errors in BT5r3)
Hi all,
I am only using my wireless adapter during this test. I downloaded the VM of BT and booted up with VirtualBox, and when I attempt to find the wireless device via iwconfig, I get nothing. I also tried iwlist wlan0 scan and I get "wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning." I can get to the Internet, and running ifconfig I can see my IP.
I have tried all of the network adapter settings in Virtual Box, looked through their forums, to no avail. I was hoping someone out there might have had the same issue as me. I am using Windows 7 Professions 64-bit, and running the latest Virtual Box to load up BT5r3. I was hoping to do some packet-sniffing but aircrack can't do anything without the wireless adapter.
I am bridging the network connection to the following settings (see attachment).
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
-M

One question, internal or USB wireless adapter?

Hey,
I'm really sorry about the delay, I have not been able to login (out of the country plus vacation). It is the internal laptop adapter.
Thanks,

My dear friend i have this problem too,if you are booting BT from a VirtualBox or VMware only USB wifi adapters are supported.Try to burn the iso file into a DVD disc and boot from there.

Well, I guess that takes care of that. Thanks much for the information, I appreciate it!

Technically Virtualbox supports pci passthrough but you need CPU,Mainboard and BIOS support for that.
