How to get rid from startx command in backtrack5R2 ?
Hello,
I'm new to Backtrack.
I first time installed it two days ago.
Every time i start backtrack, it ask for username and password and i simply type root and toor and then i have to type startx command to start GUI and i don't want that, i mean whenever i type root/toor i directly want GUI mode can some plz tell me how to do that. and if someone could tell me even how to get rid from root/toor (i mean direct GUI startup on system bootup) that would be grateful.

you would probably have to modify the source code to enter your login/pswd and the compile your own version. I don't think its possible to write a bash script that loads before the actual OS. an ASM tsr application might do the trick, but that can take quite a while to write.

While I don't exactly see the point, see http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=43011
BackTrack is all about the CLI. If you want something that goes straight to a display manager, why not use Ubuntu, or other linux os?

Add "startx" to /root/.bash_profile.

Are you really this lazy ? type 6 letters come on :p
And if you need to check something quickly, it's easy to just use the terminal and don't wait for the gui to load

The first thing you actually should do, before worrying about automatic start of X windows manager, is to change the default password.
