I'm on a triple boot, and want to reinstall backtrack. I downloaded the latest version and made a usb, ran it and choose install. The thing is, when I get to the option where I can choose "erase entire disk" or "something about partitions", gparted don't seem to find any partitions. Tried partitionmanager while logged onto Linux mint aswell without any success. Any ideas? :rolleyes: :)
Use a live CD from LMDE , Debian, Ubuntu, etc, any live distro (Debian based) and use the fdisk -l in the terminal.
See if there are any partitions.
Also use : ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid
Also use: blkid
See what you have in your HDD...
When using the fdisk command I can see all the partitions, but when using gparted (which the backtrack installer does) it's not viewable.... =/
Try This It Worked Awhile Back For Me
Quit The Installer
apt-get remove dmraid
Try Installer Again And See If Your Partions Show up.
It has been documented that the dmraid driver can cause problems with the installation - even if you don't have RAID installed. This prevents the installer from seeing your hard disks.

Well, download the gparted Live cd, burn it onto CD, boot up with it, see the if partitions show up.
There must be something going on with your usb..Again, use a CD..Lots of people are using (and having so much troubles, just read posts) USB.
If fdisk sees partitions, and gparted is not, mmmmmm, sounds logical that somehow the usb is not that reliable. Use a CD instead with only gparted live..Download it...

The partitions were overlapping =/ Found a guide on how to fix it, and it told me to backup my hard drive before doing it.... I didn't, so I had to reinstall my whole computer anyways. Anyhow, for future reference: It might be partitions that are overlapping :)
