Sorry, Broadcom 802.11n
I type airmon-ng on my terminal,
and the chipset was unknow.
Then I created a mon0 interface to sniffing packets from my wireless router
and there was a warning that I have to kill some tasks.
I think I have to buy a USB Wireless Adapter.
My question is I have to disable my wlan0(my internal wifi card) when I plug in the USB wireless Adapter???
Thanks.
Re: First Time WiFi Setup
please post output:
lspci | grep -i network
Then the first numbers at left, in this format: xx:xx.x (ex. 0c:00.0, 0f:00.0, etc) use them and type:
lspci -vvs xx:xx.x at the end you can see what driver the kernel is using (the -vv is a doble "v" to be very verbose)
Post it.

Please, again, go to this link: http://mmc.geofisica.unam.mx/debian/...mware-nonfree/ and download the file: firmware-ipw2x00_0.36_all.deb
The file .deb is installed this way: dpkg -i firmware-ipw2x00_0.36_all.deb
That's all you need.

Sorry, but I do not understand..Please open your own thread to get the help you need. This one is about a ip2200 Intel from Dazzcoll, who by the way invaded a old threat, he should have open his own, but in this case he had the same Intel Pro Wireless 2200.
In your case is a Broadcom..
I'm done with this thread about ipw2200..
Re: First Time WiFi Setup
I am also new to Linux, but familiar with drivers and firmware on windows. I have a Acer Aspire 3680-2682,where I cannot find or determine what firmware/driver needed for my wireless card for backtrack 5 R3. It is installed on the laptop not virtual or usb. Since laptop is out of date, not getting too much help on which driver will work, it is the 802.11b/g wireless card. Any help or suggestions? When I use the iwconfig command I can see...
wlan0 IEEE802.11bg ESSID off/any
mode: managed access point: not-associated tx-power= 20dBm
retry long limit 7 RTS thr: off Fragment thr: off
encryption key: off
power management: off
eth0 no wireless extensions
