Blank screen after startx command (this worked for me after everything failed)

I havn't even been able to get BT5R2 installed. I always test out the live USB first...well I did and got the same error everyone else has been getting. I am still working on a permanant fix. But this worked to get me stable for now.


Before you boot up with the live usb/cd you will notice a blue screen. Hit TAB


ignore everything except for the last portion of the line.

Replace everything AFTER the word "splash" with the following

xforcevesa


That will use very basic(but good enough) drivers to get you on your way and get everything fine tuned with a working OS. I hope this helped.

I have HP EliteBook 8440p with Intel HD inside. I noticed that windows are still not 100% smooth like they are in Ubuntu 12.04 or previous versions. Not sure if that can be fixed somehow?
