[Solved] Backtrack 5 R2 Gnome 64bit - sound interface problem
Hi,
I've installed the Backtrack 5 R2 Gnome 64 bit. Everything is working fine so far with one exception.
I've tried to adjust the sound volume because it is too low by default and going Systems-> Preferences -> Sound I receive a popup with "Waiting for sound system to respond" message.
I'm a patience man, at least I think I'm, but after 30 minutes of nothing new I begun to understand that definitely there's something wrong.
I have sound like I said but how do I increase the volume though :confused:
Please advice. Do I have a way to debug that and provide more details? :)
Thanks!
Re: Backtrack 5 R2 Gnome 64bit - sound interface problem
Go to System->Preferences -> Startup Applications
Make sure you’re in the tab ‘Startup programs’
-> Click on ‘Add’
Name: Pulseaudio daemon
Command:/usr/bin/pulseaudio
Comment: Start the sound daemon
Now logout, then login again
*** it's mandatory that sound dosnt work on ubuntu 10.04 under root.

@Ghostdog67 - Thanks for the quick reply. I've checked what you advice me. I already have the daemon started accordingly with the following picture:

Meanwhile I've used alsamixer command to adjust the volume.
Re: Backtrack 5 R2 Gnome 64bit - sound interface problem
@Osirium I have it installed in GNOME 32bit working just fine and the daemon was already running. I will try the 64bit but have to DL first. Are you running this as core, VM, or USB?

@ravenx2c
Hi, I've installed it as core.

just a polite suggestion,but perhaps you should edit your thread title to reflect that the issue has been [solved]; so other forum users may more easily find the thread in results if searching rather than simply creating new ones :)
