ALSA problem after "successful" update
I tried to update my alsa driver/libs/utilities today to the latest version. Everything went fine - installed all 3 packages without any errors. However, now the system doesn't detect any sound card at all. Alsaconf ends with error: " No supported PnP or PCI card found." So basically I have no sound atm. My sound card is a ALC888.

Also tried installing the official realtek drivers but I get stuck at the same spot. For those interested, I updated as I was having problems with really low sound levels on my MSI GX740.

Recompiled the drivers once again, and set /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf :
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=acer-aspire-7730g
Sound now works perfectly and is no longer low. No clue how the sound card actually reappeared though.
