Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
I have this card working on BT5R1 Gnome VM, however it wont inject on ch13? Any ideas? :D
I have started with airmon-ng wlan0 13, airodump -c 13 etc.
I followed the instructions from: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/...reless_Drivers to update the drivers, although that may not have been neccessary.
Changing the AP to channel 11 I was able to inject fine.
Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
Channels 1-11 are used worldwide.
Channels 12 & 13 - Depends on location (e.g. not allowed in the USA)
Channel 14 is only in Japan
To enforce this, some manufactures limit/block some channels when writing the firmware to the device.
Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
I'm in the UK so 13 is allowed, it will monitor channel13 and detects the AP. Will connect fully to the AP on ch13 etc.
Has anyone else tried this device on ch13?
Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
Thank goodness for this thread.
I've been trying to get my AWUS051NH work and pulling my hair out because of it. Mostly because I'm a newbie and was making newbie mistakes. (Like wicd doesn't work when the card is in monitor mode, dude).
Anyway, I finally found the Wiki here and down at the bottom it lists the AWUS051NH as a card that is not working. I despaired. But then I noticed that it said the wiki page needs to be updated for BT5. Hope? Then I found this thread and hope was confirmed. At long last I found my way out of the newbie weeds and everything is working now.
So thanks to jpkirk et al. for giving me hope!

Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
i have the alfa awus036h which worked fine in the beginning. now although it sees networks, in windows xp and windows 7, i cant get connected to them, i tested it at my workplace. in backtrack i can inject and capture the handshake but cannot connect to our network through wicd "bad password"
Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
Okay, I just tested the Awus051nh and works great out of the box in both vmware workstation 7 and also hdd install. Both tests were in 64bit version's of BT5, However the signal was real weak and did not compare to the Awus036h.
I ended up selling my Nh to a buddy who didn't need strong signal right now. Now I'm on my way to get the awus36nh. Well see how it compares........

why would someone need 5g? whats in 5g?
Re: Wireless: Alfa AWUS051NH
I'm a little confused. I want to use this wireless card for kismet aircrack-ng airodump etc. Will it work right out of the box?
