Backtrack 5 hangs at poweroff ??

I tested on both the KDE 32 bit and the 64 bit version and when I Try to shut down from the terminal by typing "poweroff" Backtrack 5 seems to hang. I can only see the backtrack wallpaper. So I don't see any error messages. I waited like half an hour but it doens't react.

Anyone else experiencing this problem ?

Yup, it happened to me a few times (KDE 32bits). One time pressing escape showed up the terminal, and then enter shut it down (don't know why...). Another time (after installation to hard drive) it did the same but this time ctrl+alt+del showed me the terminal, with a buggy screen half-background/half terminal. I couldn't do anything though, and I had to manually power my PC off. Since then, it shut down correctly every time.

Pressing enter seems to do the trick. Thanks comaX

Edit:While waiting after the poweroff command, if you hit F4, you can see why its waiting
Please remove the disc and close the tray (if any) then press ENTER:

Yeah the wallpaper appears in front of the message that says to press enter after removing the disc.
Just figured it out too.

I had the same issue. Confirmed. I was confused and did a Ctrl C after a while and it powered off completely.

But not sure what it actually did...

Yeah i had the same problem .. i just did a hard power off but i will try just hitting the enter key or control c and see if those work too.

To me it felt like it was waiting for a KB entry before powering down.

I have not tested more than twice, however in both cases it powered down after some key entries...

Again, I dont dare say what I exactly did.. it was a bit like a 5 year old playing StreetFighter IV..

If you add "noprompt" at the end of your boot line in the syslinux.cfg file, then the question to remove media will be bypassed.
