Default username and password (root password)
Hello,
I just booted up a BT5 x64 on my laptop, so I am at the KDE login prompt, it is asking for a username and a password.
I tried the well known root/toor but didn‘t succeded. Also tried root/(blank) but that isn‘t it either.
So if anyone can just post the correct username/password combo I would be really grateful.
Thanks,
DOMy
Re: Default username and password (root password)
I'm guessing you have it installed then ?
When booting from USB drive/DVD default password is displayed just before you can type startx (for instance). Did you check that ? Anyway, I believe it should be root/toor...

It didn‘t start with the default option, so I started it by choosing Debug mode, after that it booted automatically into X not giving me the chance to observe any comments in the console :S
So no, I don‘t have it installed...
Re: Default username and password (root password)
when booting from usb or dvd there should not be a password request just type in startx
check the md5sum

I got it via the torrent which automatically chevks for the checksum...r u also talking about booting into debug mode?
Anyhow there was a txt attached to the iso, maybe the pwd is written in that will check on this later when I got home.
Re: Default username and password (root password)
Ι got the same issue on a vm. Normal mode cant get X to start, so i tried debug mode which got me with X up and kdm asking for password.
'toor' doesnt seem to work.

@BeNeDeLuX
Thanx for pointing to that thread, finally kde x64 up and running!
Re: Default username and password (root password)
Try this:
1) At the BackTrack boot menu, choose "Debug mode" (do not hit enter).
2) press tab while the "BackTrack Debug" menu option is selected.
3) Edit the boot parameter, and add a "splash" value.
The line should look similar to this:
Code:
/casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/custom.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.gz text splash --
See if this helps. Please report back to this thread.

Adding splash made the Debug option equal with the Default option, so on my machine it just simply didn't boot in...black screen.
