Re: How To Enable Touchpad
I also occasionally have an issue with the touchpad.
This only happens on a rebuilt live dvd that I made log in automatically and I am using a custom xorg.conf file - so I figure its just me.
no promises but this clears it up for me on my Sony vpc.
try "control alt backspace" then type startx again.
Re: How To Enable Touchpad

No, still no luck, I think I'm just waiting for BT5 and hope it will work then.
Cheers,
Aruman.
Re: How To Enable Touchpad
Hello Aruman,
you have to add “i8042.nopnp” at the end of the kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst
in my case :
title BackTrack 4 R2, kernel 2.6.35.8
uuid 40147649-10b2-4fa2-b3d4-b5288a326913
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.35.8 root=UUID=04f54c21-f9a2-40ad-b9d6-ffd34139712c ro quiet vga=0x31a=0x317 i8042.nopnp
initrd /initrd.img-2.6.35.8
Re: How To Enable Touchpad
