Bt4-Final -> Bt4-R2: Wlan0 Issue. No such device.
Hello!
I've updated from bt4-final to bt4r2 and after that, my wifi won't work.
It worked correctly before after I did /etc/init.d/networking start and /etc/init.d/wicd start.
But now, I only get:
Code:
wlan0: Error while getting interface flags: No such device
Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.1.1
Copyright...*
All rights...*
For more info, ...*
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
wlan0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
wlan0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
Bind socket to interface: No such device
Failed to bring up wlan0.
done.
I've searched the forum and I guess I tried almost everything!
Eth0 works fine. It connects and I get ip from dhcp.
I will update the post soon with some command outputs!
Thanks,
Mogge.
Re: Bt4-Final -> Bt4-R2: Wlan0 Issue. No such device.
Just use the command line and try to connect that way. Paste your commands and output. Further having info on your card may help.
Re: Bt4-Final -> Bt4-R2: Wlan0 Issue. No such device.
Hi, will try to connect from command line. First, here is some information.
It's a LG-X120 laptop with a RTL8187SE wireless card built in.
A side note is, I've read some and to my understanding, this card could cause some trouble, specially in the new r2? May not be right.
Anyway, I've used the same setup before, with Ubuntu 8, and did great with aircrack so I know it HAS worked before at least :p

Re: Bt4-Final -> Bt4-R2: Wlan0 Issue. No such device.
Update your boot defaults so it doesn't run the networking start script. It tries to start each network connection listed in /etc/network/interfaces and then make a dhcp request. So it makes the request, waits, makes another, waits, times out then onto the next interface, etc. This is what causes the delay in startup.

However, new problem.
It all works now, great, BUT when booting up, the "Configuring network interfaces..." takes very long! 1,5-3 minutes.
Any idea why?

you can try config the etc/network/interfaces there start with dhcp or not... and please, post where you find the drivers for rtl8187se for BT4-R2 I cant fix it.
Thanks

I got same slow boot problem on notebook with RTl8187 card and I simply removed netwotking from boot
Code:
update-rc.d networking remove
quite useful sometimes, why not to add "remove" operator into BT4 basic usage page
