I hate to ask this question..
I have backtrack 4 r2, i checked the MD5, and i am running with virtualbox.
I select Start BackTrack FrameBuffer (1024x768). Then i get to the prompt and input 'login', then 'root', then 'toor'.
'Login incorrect'.
From everything i have read, this should have definitely worked. What do i do next??
The only other thing which may be worth mentioning, although i don't think it is relevant, is that i get the following error: 'Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 1', 12, 7
Re: I hate to ask this question..
make sure your caps lock key isn't on... i know also on certain laptops you need to make sure num lock isn't on because if it is the letter o can be input as a 6
Re: I hate to ask this question..
whats that "login" input ?

I mean i type 'login' from the main prompt to bring up the login, where it asks for username and password.
And no, not a CAPS or NUM lock issue, unfortunately. (those would show up when imputing root, too)
Re: I hate to ask this question..
login = root
password = toor
You don't need to type anything in backtrack to initiate the login. It simply prompts when ready.
