Getting a WPA random key ie SKY (uk)
Sky tv in the uk generate their modem/routers with a random key 0-9 & a-z
Ive seen a few utube vids and they seem to need a dictionary file... but as its a random key surely im thinking that the key will NOT appear in the dictionary file...
so im wondering if there is a way/tut to show me a way of desyphering the key like the way of getting a WEP key?
Hi and thank you for your replies, im new so please be gentle lol
using BT 4 R2 boot cd

Can you provide some more context? Where is this wireless device you want to access? What is the purpose of the device - is it a regular Internet router? Not being from the UK Im uncertain of what services Sky TV provide, but from the sound of it I would have thought it would be pay TV - how does a wireless router fit into this?
Re: Getting a WPA random key ie SKY (uk)
Sky TV also provide an ADSL service as well as the TV services. There was a thread going about this a while ago I think, something like "Default WPA keys!!" There's a lot of info on the different versions of sky routers in that thread so I think that could help you out.
Re: Getting a WPA random key ie SKY (uk)
My friends Sky Broadband uses a Netgear router and that was using what apears to be random key 0-9 & a-z as a pass phrase for the WPA2. I changed it for him and the password for all Sky routers apears to be the same as can be found by google.
Re: Getting a WPA random key ie SKY (uk)
Use either crunch or John the ripper, sky routers also use capital A-Z too so it could take some time, from the ones i have access to they are all 8 digits long, but then thats if they have been left as standard.
