first off you really need to learn how to find the correct caracters on the keyboard and read what you have typed before hitting POST. have you tried searching the forum for solutions regarding "X issues" ?

Hi, there I've had this same issue running backtrack 4 R2. Previously i had ran backtrack 3 and all went well.

When i went to run the live dvd of 4 on my HP Pavilion dv7t laptop, the grub loads everything seems fine i've went through and chosen each option in the boot menu none however lead to anything all of them resort to this error message.

all i get is the shell, I've tried the startx command but it just spits the same error. I'm not currently home so i dont have a screenshot but i'll upload one when i get home.
