Thaijames, you may need to move the old kernel file to a new directory.
I executed the following which remedied the problem:
mkdir /lib/modules/2.6.35.8.kernel.old
mv /lib/modules/2.6.35.8 /lib/modules/2.6.35.8.kenrnel.old
apt-get install linux-image-2.6.35.8
Greetings,
Sorry for being a newb to the forum and bt4 but i am having a problem and need help please.
After performing the second command string "apt-get dist-upgrade" All the packages appear to download, however the end result was the following error:
Unpacking replacement openvas-libraries ...
Selecting previously deselected package openvas-scanner.
Unpacking openvas-scanner (from .../openvas-scanner_3.1.1-bt0_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/openvas-scanner_3.1.1-bt0_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/local/lib/openvas/plugins/synscan.nes', which is also in package openvas-plugins
Preparing to replace hydra 5.40-bt4 (using .../hydra_5.90-bt0_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement hydra ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/openvas-scanner_3.1.1-bt0_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I see that it concerning the openvas scanner association. unfortunately it will not let me go any further. This is a clean install of BT4 final, and I have not installed any third party apps. If anyone can please help, or offer suggestions so that i can continue with the upgrade. All help is greatly appreciated..
Thank You
Thank you for reading ignore my last post and question, I have wiped the drive, downloaded the new distro, and installed it, no worries. Someone might look into where the phenomenon came from, please, just in case anyone else may have the same issue.
Again thanks

I am having this Exact same error on a fresh install of BT4Final.
apt-get update completes properly
ap-get dist-upgrade downloads packages and begins unpacking them, and then I get stuck with this.
apt-get -f install results in the same error
apt-get -f dist-upgrade as well
apt-get -f -m dist-upgrade as well.
I'm at a loss as to what I could do next.
thenCode:dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/openvas-scanner_3.1.1-bt0_i386.deb
thenCode:apt-get -f install
That should get you rolling.Code:apt-get install linux-image-2.6.35.8
Dear all,
I try to upgrade from BT R1 to R2.
I got stuck on after this command:
root@bt:~# apt-get install linux-source
...
All done, errors in processing 1 file(s)
dpkg: error processing msttcorefonts (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
msttcorefonts
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Please tell me, what should I do?
Thanks
===========
Problem solved, it's because the server for msttcorefonts was down or busy at that time.
