Question regarding updating BackTrack to 2.6.34
Greeting everybody,
As per to the instructions from the blog
Updating BackTrack to 2.6.34
first command worked fine with me however at second command
Code:
apt-get dist-upgade
I choosed Y to upgrade but it cause the following:
Blue Screen appears: Package Configuration, Configuring Linux-image-2.6.34 with the following note:
Code:
You are attempting to install a kernel image (version 2.6.34) However, the directory /lib/modules/2.6.34/kernel still exists. If this directory belongs to a previous linux-image-2.6.34 package, and if you have deselected some modules, or installed standalone modules packages, this could be bad.
If /lib/modules/2.6.34/kernel belongs to a old install of
linux-image-2.6.34, then this is your last chance to abort the
installation of this kernel image (nothing has been changed yet).
If you know what you are doing, and if you feel that this image should
be installed despite this anomaly, Please answer n to the question.
Otherwise, I suggest you move /lib/modules/2.6.34/kernel out of the way, perhaps to /lib/modules/2.6.34.kernel.old or something, and then try re-installing this image.
Please advice
Regards,
Re: Question regarding updating BackTrack to 2.6.34
Yes, I received the same message when upgrading the kernel on a number of my BackTrack 4 installs. Have a read of the message and tell me if you think it indicates a genuine problem and what option you think you should choose?

SOLVED Re: Question regarding updating BackTrack to 2.6.34
Gentlemen,
I found out my problem, it seems that when I was receiving the blue screen, I was quitting the session assuming that there no point after that, but when I notice the ok button at the end of the message, I pressed it, and I was promoted to stop the installation, I answer No to that in order to continue the installation. after that everything seems to be working fine.
Thank you all for your time and your support,
Regards,
