It depends on what sort of captcha. If its a generic one which anyone could do with PHP-GD then yes, they probably would be able to break it. But rotated ones with other parts on the image (as produced by reCAPTCHA) are unlikely to be broken.
i dont know what forums your using but when i had a phpBB2 forums there was a module that didnt allow more than 1 post every x seconds and if they tried to post again x increased
It seems that the three day waiting period, combined with the 15 posts with no URLs is what is most effective. Spam bots will wait for minutes, even days, but if they are not allowed to post links, they will give up.
Cheers,
Mother
As a new user that waiting those three days is pure hell. Been chomping at the bit to start posting.
HI Mother! How's it hanging?
Xploitz: I've known streaker69 for quite some time, and he is not a n00b, keep the safety on, son :)
Streaker69: welcome aboard, you could have PM'd me, the 3-day thing (and the 15-post count) can all be changed from the admin panel on request, if the request warrants it of course (so don't y'all noobs start PM'ing me now!).
Cheers!
Mother
My apologies to you both. I wasn't intending that to be taken like it was. I was trying to say that streaker69 was new to the board, not necessarily new to the Wifi security scene, and this "waiting period" could be utilized to search the board instead of posting questions that have very simple answers to if the n00bs would just use "search" button. :) I should have made myself more clear by saying n00bs to the board. And yes Mother, my safety is on...awaiting your fire command. Just ask and it shall be done. ;)
