Yes, and that's something that's important to keep in mind: the outbound leg from your tor exit node is unencrypted, and there are a lot of dodgy characters running exit nodes with sslstrip and other types of mitm tools.
Be careful that you don't wind up sacrificing your personally identifiable information such as logins and passwords for the sake of anonymizing your IP address.
Re: howto anonymous surfing
how about anonymous our IP behind squid with proxy auth... , I always blocked by ISA server while trying input another proxy...
Re: howto anonymous surfing
Wouldn't you wanna use ssh tunneling to be as secure as possible?
Just set up a ssh server somewhere, then port forward with SOCKS on whichever programs have proxy support (firefox, pidgin, etc). This may expose the computer on the other end, but just host it on a network that you know is safe.
Re: howto anonymous surfing
what about a vpn service? i know the pirate bay has one that deletes logs. you get an anonymous ip address. it's aimed at getting around the new harsher copyright laws

Re: howto anonymous surfing
Good tutorial. But both you mentioned didn't work for me.
Tor and JonDo cannot connect to the right place in my area.
