Here's a good question for ya - does the wireless card work outside of trying to crack WEP? I've seen that error msg with intel cards (my laptop runs a 5100AGN), i believe it had something to do with getting the firmware in the right location.

hi RageLtMan
Thank you for your reply :)
I found the answer , the problem was in firmware , I trying to fixed
I've got kind of the same problem. After dist-upgrade my Intel 4965agn wifi does not work anymore. /etc/init.d/networking start reports errors. Triedwith no success. I cannot connect to my local AP, in fact no networks are shown in wicd. iwconfig reports wlan0 to be up and running in managed mode (which is I want). I'll give my alfa a try, see if I can connect to my local AP with it.Code:ifconfig wlan0 down, modprobe iwlagn, ifconfig wlan0 up
reports back with SIOCSIFFLAGS error bla bla. Have you found a solution, yet? Or do you know what causes these problems?Code:ifconfig wlan0 up
EDIT: ... shortly after being prompted to login, following errors occur:Code:iwlagn 0000:04:00.0: iwlwifi i-5000-1.ucode firmware file req failed: -2
Code:iwlagn 0000:04:00.0: iwlwifi i-5000-2.ucode firmware file req failed: -2
Code:iwlagn 0000:04:00.0: could not read microcode: -2
The firmware should be in /lib/firmware[uname -r]/iwlwifi-[card#](-1 and -2).ucode. If not there, try updatedb, locate (filename).
