Welcome to the forums.
Re-read the rules that you agreed to when you signed up. Also see the "stickied" threads at the top of the newbie section.
Also don't be afraid to search for yourself both here on the forums and google.
It might also be a good idea to post some info about your setup and the tutorial/s that you followed. There are lots of them so how are we to know.
OK after some more reading i have managed to get the system booted, now i have run into another problem when starting x console i get the following error message
failed to initialize glx extnsions
and there isnt much around for this error, any one knows what it means?
Didn't mention it previously so my apologies, but why not upgrade to BT4 since it's the lastest, greatest, etc. ?
Ok, so i have spent all day googling and reading and i cant find a solution to the problem any where
When running startx i get the following error
"Failed to initialize GLX extensions - compatible NVIDIA drivers not found"
Laptop - Fujitsu Seimens Amilo li1705 with a VIAChrome9 HCIGP WDDM graphics card
sure there are lots of topics out there with similar problems but there are no solutions.
by the way i also have tried bt4 and have exactly the same problem so i am guessing it might be a hardware issue with my graphics card.
you have a proprietary video card with non-free drivers, they are not typically included in live distros.
recommendations:
use a different pc for your testing
learn how to install the nvidia drivers prior to starting x
