WiFi should work , but doesn't even show up : HELP !
Hey guys,
I got an intel 5100 , the card should work but it doesn't
Atleast : 'normal internet' should work , because the drivers are included
I've tried so hard , but if I do a iwconfig command , it shows lo and eth0 , but both say : 'no wireless extensions'
I am CLUELESS , people say it works , but it doesn't show up :s
So eh , do I have to enable the driver or something? I know it is there ...
Please help this noob!
Thanks in advance ,
Lilspanyol

How you started the networking service and configured your wireless card using something like wicd?
Start networking:
Quote:
/etc/init.d/networking start
Start wicd
Quote:
/etc/init.d/wicd start
Then configure the wireless network connection using K Menu>Internet>Wicd Network Manager
Re: WiFi should work , but doesn't even show up : HELP !
I did this : /etc/init.d/networking start
But it says : 'no such device' for all interfaces
I however am sure that I do have it , because I checked in in my W7
I'm using vmware and backtrack 4 : HELP!

Why would he try to start KNetMangr since there are no Wireless Devices available and reconized... (no wireless extension thing).
Can you use lspci and give output ?

Only USB wireless cards will work when you are running BackTrack in a Virtual Machine.
