You should have searched harder for the answer to this question:

Re: Backtrack-ati installation
yes you are right...but it seem there is no solution for this problem.
Can someone tell me if there is any workaround. Is it possible to dowload the ATI driver from ATI website and install them to backtrack linux?
ATI company is aware about this problem?
Thanks to all BT community...
Re: Backtrack-ati installation
Please check your PM box and follow the instructions to change your user name.
Re: Backtrack-ati installation
Dear pure@te,
you seem to have the solution for this problem.
Would you be so kind and send me also a PM how to solve it?
Thx a lot

@gay-romeo2000
You've misunderstood. Pureh@te was instructing mister|x to change his username.
For ati support we'll have to wait for kernel upgrade.
Re: Backtrack-ati installation
So it really requires a kernel update to get ati driver?
Re: Backtrack-ati installation
I just received a ATI card in the mail which was donated by one of the members here. As soon as I have a chance I will be compiling and packaging the ATI drivers and the ATI stream for use with pyrit.

The community at it's best!
Thanks a bunch pureh@te. You really rock.
And cudos to the doner!

Did you make any progress considering the ATI driver issues?
EDIT:
For now, if you are really desperate, you can install Ubuntu 10.04 onto a second partition and use the built in tool to install the ATI driver. Then proceed installing ATI Stream SDK as .deb package. You can find these by googleing for
Code:
ati-opencl-dev ati-opencl-runtime .deb
Then install pyrit and cpyrit-opencl by grabbing the latest svn version.
Results:
Code:
saucier@saucier-desktop:~$ pyrit list_cores
Pyrit 0.3.1-dev (svn r251) (C) 2008-2010 Lukas Lueg http://pyrit.googlecode.com
This code is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3+
The following cores seem available...
#1: 'OpenCL-Device 'Juniper''
#2: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
Anyway, I hope the backtack-ati package gets fixed soon.
