BackTrack 3 Installation EEE 901

And when I restarted to boot into backtrack through my SSD I got a problem...

I have it set to boot into EEEUBUNTU first, so it did. The next time I started up, i went into the boot menu and chose the second SSD... turns out it booted into Ubuntu as well!?

Now when I started up Ubuntu, I had an option to mount the 4.0GB SSD, the one with the Backtrack installed, so I did, and all the files are there..

I followed the tutorial step by step. What could I have done wrong? And how can I fix it?

lilo or other boot loader file will more than likely help us to help you.

I noticed I also have a file called lilo.conf1 with what looks like the old lilo.conf file.. oh and lilo.conf.5

not sure if that means anything.

If I am understanding you correctly you have a dual boot machine.
But I only see hdc1 as one single entry. Where are the entries for the other
partitions?

Ok, that makes sense, I need to add the ubuntu ssd into the file.. but

the thing is, it only boots into the ubuntu disk..

So would I have to edit the boot file on the ubuntu disk...?

I'm confused because it seems like the backtrack lilo file isn't even being run.. since only Ubuntu is booting even when i select the other disk..

Are you using one of the many tutorials here on the forums to do this ?
You also might want to look into #man lilo

well yah, i installed ubuntu through usb with its installer.. on the larger disk.. then i ran backtrack through usb and followed the tutorial from the link i posted above..

when i boot up the eeepc i get the ubuntu screen showing:

Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.24-8-eeepc
Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.24-8-eeepc (recovery mode)
Ubuntu 8.10, memtest86+
Normal Boot (on /dev/sda1)
Perform Disk Scan (on /dev/sda1)
Restore Factory Settings (on /dev/sda1)

Now when i select normal boot or any of the other 2 underneath it i get the error:

Error 15: File not found

could this have something to do with it?

Ok in post number 4 (your lilo.conf)
shows
boot = /dev/hdc
and
root = /dev/hdc1
But in post number 8 you have
/dev/sda1
So my question remains is the above your entire lilo.conf?
If so you are missing partitions.
Maybe I am misunderstanding something here but that is the way I am seeing it.
Normally it should look more like
boot=/dev/hda
1st partition with one distro =/dev/hda1
2nd partition with another distro =/dev/hda2
etc. Given the partitions can and will be different.
Again maybe I am not seeing something that someone else can help out with.

i posted the full lilo file but the sda is what i get when i boot. its the ubuntu grub boot file thats being loaded not the lilo.. so im thinking i should add backtrack to the ubuntu boot file instead...

now im trying to add a backtrack boot option and this is what ive come up with so far based with past posts on this forum but no matter what i choose i get an error:15 file not found when i boot into it... what should my root be? and is everything else correct?

and it added ubuntu to the boot list without a problem

but when i restart and start ubuntu it says its loading it but just hangs and doesnt not go anywhere else.
