excellent, thanks to all you people who made this possible,
looking forward to trying it out, using unetbootin as we speak.
tnx for the bt4, it looks great!!
I post a little quicke howto get the bt4 up and running "live with changes"
from windows.
download the iso from first page.
format a sd or usb-stick in fat32, (I suppose 1gb would do it but I prefer 2gb)
open the iso with winrar or other iso prog.
transfer the 2 directories "boot" and "BT4" to the card or usb.
when ready open the boot directory on the card and run "bootinst.bat"
now your card should be bootable, put the sd or usb in the computer and boot.
login with root, toor, startx.
when you see the desktop open konqueror and type /mnt in adress bar, and you will se your mounted drives, look for the boot BT4 directory and make a new folder named "changes".
remember what name your direcory have (in my case sdb1).
open boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg in a text editor, and edit the last line in
LABEL BT4
MENU LABEL BT4 Beta - Console
KERNEL /boot/vmlinuz
APPEND vga=0x311 initrd=/boot/initrd.gz ramdisk_size=6666 rw root=/dev/ram0 changes=/dev/sdb1 quiet
where changes=/dev/sdb1 corsponds to your bt4 direcotory
reboot and start make whatever changes you want and it should be saved.
a tip is to edit the timeout figure in syslinux.cfg to: TIMEOUT 4
run this on my asus eee 701 (thats why I have vga=0x311) works great.
tnx again for the relese.
ps
you could of course make the "changes" folder in windows and just edit the syslinux.cfg after boot
