This is not an error message but a guess that you posted. I would suggest you copy the exact error message and post it. Then we may be able to help.
Also the exact command you used.
Ok. i typed this "apt -get update" and also tried apt -get install" but i got the same error message:
apt command can be found in following packages
"java jkd 5.0
java jdk 6.0
and 2 more options"
at the end the error was bash:apt command not found
error message:
"#apt -get update (enter)
The program 'apt' can be found in the following packages:
* openjdk-6-jdk
* cacao-oj6-jdk
* sun-java5-jdk
* sun-java6-jdk
Try: apt-get install <selected package>
bash: apt: command not found"
"# apt -get install axel
The program 'apt' can be found in the following packages:
* openjdk-6-jdk
* cacao-oj6-jdk
* sun-java5-jdk
* sun-java6-jdk

omg read...
use apt-get install
not apt -get install
I seen that to, NO SPACE in (apt-get) then a space update/upgrade
