something strange after installing backtrack

i've been messing around with the livecd(backtrack2) for a while and i recently picked up an older laptop and decided to throw backtrack on it, the installation went fine and when it started up again from the hard drive i started up fluxbox. When it loaded it just says "one" in the bottom left hand corner where the start button should be. when i click on the "one" button it just gives me a list of things i can do to edit the toolbar, they are

visible
autohide
toolbar width percent
maximize over
layer
placement
alpha
iconbar mode
clock
edit clock format

i shutdown the laptop and tried to get into kde after it booted up but it takes me back to this, i've looked over the fourms but i can't find anything, does anyone have any ideas?

Put your cursur anywhere on the screen and right click for the flux box menu.

sadly for some reason, possibly the age of the computer the left and right buttons on the laptop do not work under backtrack so only left click is the only option by double clicking the touchpad, hoping to get a hold of a mouse in a few days which should allow me to use both left and right.
